The short storyAn exchange of niceties is lead off with the fibber sharing her thoughts around her upcoming abortion. And that is a fairly good verbal rendering of the narrators view of herself; insignificant. She does not feel like she has achieved anything in her life, or done anything of significance. She is unsatisfied about her life, and does not feel as though she will ever reach her skillful potential, because she is unable to finish anything she begins. We do not hear much about her job, only that she works as a waitress, and that the salary is rather less than satisfying.
